All About The Space Place

The University of Wisconsin has been at the forefront of innovative astronomical research for over a century.  To encourage students, teachers, and the general public to learn, think, and talk about space science and research, the UW Space Place first opened in a refurbished Ponderosa Steak House in the summer of 1990.

Over the years, Space Place has grown into a vibrant public education center.  In August 2005 we moved into a beautiful new custom designed facility in the Village on Park (then called the Villager), with professionally designed educational and historical exhibits, a classroom space, lecture room, and a roof top deck for sky viewing.  We provide hands-on activities, lively presentations, and informative lectures by UW researchers.  Each year we offer many public programs and open our doors to thousands of visitors.  Please join us soon at UW Space Place, where science can be fun for everyone!
